Revenue journals move revenue to the right month automatically. Deferred revenue holds back income you have invoiced but not yet earned; accrued revenue records income you have earned but not yet invoiced. Use one or both. ScaleXP reads your invoices, suggests entries, and posts the journals to Xero or QuickBooks.
1. Set up once
Do these three steps first, whichever journals you use.
- Setup 1: Configure and validate revenue recognition
- Setup 2: Prepare your accounts
- Setup 3: Choose your settings
2. Run your journals each month
Go to the Journals tab. On Month-End Close, both journals sit under Revenue; click Open on a step to start. Follow the tracks you use.

In consolidated companies, run each journal at the subsidiary level, where the accounting connection sits.

Beyond journals
The same revenue recognition drives your customer reports, MRR, ARR, and churn. See Customer page summary reports and How to create a metric, report, or chart using Customer page reports.
