When issuing Invoices where the revenue spans 2 or more months, the Revenue Recognition spread of revenue will be determined by the number of days in each month and the distributed value of those days.

  • ScaleXP uses the number of days in each month to determine the value of each day.
  • All months are equal, therefore, months with fewer days have higher value days.
  • Invoices spread over multiple months will have a distribution of more valuable and less valuable days which changes from month to month.
  • Depending on the start month, you may have more days of higher value or fewer days of higher value.
  • This variance from month to month causes the different amounts to be recognized in each month for invoices that span across months.

In the table below, you'll see the value of days in each month represented by each day's portion of the month as a percentage. Use the sum value of these percentages for the amount of days represented by each month in the invoice to determine the distribution of revenue to each month.

Start Month 2024 Days 2024 Day Value
January 31 0.0323
February 29 0.0345
March 31 0.0323
April 30 0.0333
May 31 0.0323
June 30 0.0333
July 31 0.0323
August 31 0.0323
September 30 0.0333
October 31 0.0323
November 30 0.0333
December 31 0.0323
Take the number of days from each month, multiplied the value of those days to get the weighted distribution of revenue for each month. All full months will add up to 1, whereas partial months will have a different weight depending on the value of the days in that month and how many are in the invoice period.
