You can use metadata in Stripe to automate tracking in ScaleXP and your accounting system. Just follow the steps below to map between Stripe and Xero tracking categories or Stripe and QuickBooks classes.
First, make sure Xero or QuickBooks is set up to receive the metadata
If you've not set up the desired categories of data in your accounting system, see these articles from Xero and QuickBooks on how to do so:
Once set up, these fields will be automatically added to the invoices generated in your accounting system and synced with ScaleXP reporting.
Next, add the metadata to the product price in Stripe
Add the metadata to Stripe for each product price you will be using.
See this Stripe article on How to create products and prices.
Ensure that you add the metadata to the price and that you create a product price for each possible selection within the category. For example, if you have the Category/Class of “region” ensure you set up a price for each region (one each for "Asia", “Europe”, “USA”, etc.)
This will ensure it transfers automatically with the Stripe ScaleXP integration, once mapped.
Finally, map the new fields in ScaleXP
Invoices will include metadata fields from the time the mapping is complete, using the data associated with the price you have invoiced in Stripe.
