Why does the Customers tab have duplicate customers? How can I get rid of duplicate customers?

From time to time, duplicate customers will appear in the Customers tab.  This is caused by duplicate names in the accounting system.   This problem is inevitable and easy to fix in the ScaleXP system.

In the ‘Customers’ tab, select more options (the cog icon at top right) then click ‘Merge/Rename Customers’.  This will open a new window listing all customers in alphabetical order. 

Tick the box at the left of the customer names to be merged.  Only two customers can be merged at one time. Note that the second customer ticked will become the main customer name. Merged customers are shown as a single unit; see below.  Changes are saved automatically. 

Merged customers will only appear once in the customer list. You can rename the customer using the pencil icons.

To de-merge customers, follow the steps above, then click on the bin icon at the right of the customer name you wish to de-merge. It will re-appear in the main customer list instead of within the merged customer.
